Haunting Harmonics (A Free Printable!)

Post 3 of 31 for May 2017!

Practicing harmonics is like walking through a magical doorway to discover your most beautiful sound. Alternate between harmonics and regular fingerings to listen low, add depth and resonance to your sound, refine your intonation, and more!

Harmonics are included in both my Epic Warm-up and Epic Warm-up 2.0 (both found in The Aspiring Flutist's Practice Companion), but I wanted to give you some extra harmonic practice as a free printable!

I originally wrote the melody for Haunting Harmonics inspired by the beginning of the story in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, when it was always winter, but never Christmas...

I ended up not including this exercise in the book because it's extra challenging and takes extra experimentation to find all the sweet spots. In addition to the challenging (and awesome!) pianissimo exercise, I also include some easy examples of "harmonic comparisons" to show you how simple it can be to use harmonics as a regular practice tool.

Do you know anyone who might be interested in my 31 posts in 31 days during May 2017 and/or able to donate money to the Maverick Flute Choir GoFundMe Campaign?

If so, please share the following links. Thanks!!

Happy Practicing!
