Since I just spent my entire day (since 8am!) listening to final exam juries and barriers here at UTA, I'm giving myself a well deserved night off to rest, rejuvenate, and revive my creative spirit for the weeks ahead.
In the meantime, since I didn't want to abandon my Monday posting, I invite you to watch the following (amazing!) video. Feel free to watch below, or click HERE to visit it on YouTube. My husband introduced me to this film and I continue to be in awe of how helpful it is in teaching music students.
After you watch, ask yourself the following questions:
- When do you have Donald Duck brain?
- In what ways would clearing out your mind help you with your practicing, performing, and relationship to music?
- What are you making too complicated that could actually be simple and elegant?
I'd love to hear your reactions to this fabulous video! Please email me at terriflute@gmail.com and tell me about any connections you made or realizations you had after watching (especially concerning the scene where Donald learns how to play pool)!
Happy Practicing!
Terri Sánchez
