A really fantastic way to improve your intonation, sight reading, rhythm, flexibility and more is to have a "flute karaoke" session! I recommend starting with something like a Beethoven Symphony - listen to it on your ipod while you play along with the flute part.
Using resources like youtube, itunes or even checking out CDs at your local library plus printing free flute parts from IMSLP or purchasing them at a music store can provide you hours of fun practice. Believe me, you'll learn a lot more about Beethoven when you're playing along with the Berlin Philharmonic than just by yourself with your metronome!
Here are a couple of links to get you started:
Beethoven Symphony No. 5, First Movement
(with Arturo Toscanini and the NBC Symphony Orchestra)
Beethoven Symphony No. 5 Flute Part
(from the International Music Score Library Project or IMSLP)
Have fun with your flute karaoke!
